Sublette County's population grew by 9.4% between 2006 and 2007, according to new estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau. The bureau now estimates Sublette County's population to be 7,925 permanent residents as of July of 2007, up 684 residents from July of 2006.
The 2006 - 2007 growth is likely the largest one-year population jump in the county's history, in terms of both a percentage increase and a net influx. Year to year growth had averaged about 4% between 2000 and 2006, with an increase of 5.25% between 2005 and 2006. Since the 2000 census, the county has grown by 34%, adding about 2000 new residents over the seven-year period.
As many as 2000 additional non-resident workers are in the county at any given time, depending on the level of gas field activity.
